The Bruc eStone at Loch Trool
Bruce's Stone at Loch Trool commemorates the historic battle between Robert the Bruce and the English army in 1307, at the start of the campaign for independence.

DIRECTIONS TO CLACHANBUTH:


From the A75 westbound (Dumfries / Carlisle), take the Newton Stewart turn-off at the roundabout, follow the main street through the town, and take the A714 north towards Barrhill and Girvan. Glentrool is signposted to the right at Bargrennan, approx. 9 miles north of Newton Stewart.

From Stranraer (ferry from Northern Ireland), on the A75 eastbound take the turning to the left for A714 to Girvan at the outskirts of Newton Stewart. Then as above.

From the North (Glasgow / Ayr) follow the A77 to Girvan and then the A714 for Newton Stewart until Bargrennan. Here you turn left for Glentrool village.

The nearest airport is Glasgow Prestwick, 40 miles north of Glentrool.
